13-Year-Old Boy Creates Escape Room in his Home

Introducing ‘Ingenious Escape Room’! Javen Freeborn, a 13-year-old boy from Bakersfield California, has created his very own escape room in the comfort of his own home. Started when Freeborn was only 11 years old, his imagination and his client list have continued to grow into what is now a successful business.

When asked to describe what an escape room is, Freeborn said, ‘Escape rooms are fun, they are great for teamwork, communication and if you’ve never done one I encourage you to try it. They’re a great time passer and extremely entertaining.’

Freeborn converted two rooms in his family’s home. One room is now a swashbuckling pirate themed room titled, ‘Dead Men Tell No Tales’ and the other is a Russian espionage themed room. Continuing with the standard escape room rules, each room takes one hour to complete and costs $15 per person through to December 25th.

‘The themes come from movies, novels… it all just depends, you never know!’
