This escape room fan got more than she bargained for during her escape experience after her partner finally popped the question.

Rachel Monks was left speechless on New Year’s Eve after her long-term boyfriend Callum Spence got down on one knee and proposed to her after completing an escape room in Aberdeen.

They visited Aberdeen’s Escsape808 where players have to navigate and escape reality TV before their time limit expires.

After finding clues, solving puzzles and working their way through each room, Rachel said she was “completely shocked and delighted” when they reached the final room only to discover the words “Rachel, will you marry me?” spelled out across six wall-mounted TV screens!

Rachel said, “It took me a minute to realise what it said on the screens because Callum’s head was in the way. He then went on one knee and my jaw hit the floor.”

“I can’t thank everyone at Escape808 enough for creating this for us and for making it such a special night for us.” She continued.

Managing director David Willmott was familiar with organising unique events for a different range of clientele; from birthday parties to team building events, but admitted the venue had never planned for a proposal before!

Rachel went on to say, “I just loved everything about the proposal”.
