The Discovery Centre in Binghamton, New York, is hosting weekly camps for children this summer. When we think of typical summer camps, we think of outdoor or creative activities that stimulate young minds. However, The Discovery Centre is getting creative this summer with a week of escape rooms for their very own escape room camp!
The Discover Centre’s Summer Camps Lead Teacher, Quinn Beam said, “We’ve been doing DIY, crafts and activities, from nature and from recycling. This week is our escape room camp. So the kids have been getting in touch with their creative side and coming up with story lines and props and puzzles.”
The summer camp is allowing the children to come up with their own unique room ideas, so you can expect a wide range of themes. One 4th grader came up with an underwater themed room called Subnautica. He has planned an exciting twist at the end of the game, but is keeping his cards close to his chest!
The creative freedom given to the children got everyone excited, noted Beam. Children have great imaginations, so allowing them to fully express what’s going on in their heads in a fun and creative way was a fantastic idea.
