Portsmouth Public Library to Host Harry Potter Escape Room

This is one for all the Harry Potter fanatics out there!

The Portsmouth Public Library announced via their Facebook page that they’ll be hosting a Harry Potter themed escape room at the end of January.

There are a limited number of spaces for the event and, needless to say, places are disappearing faster than an Evanesco spell (a vanishing spell for all the Muggles out there).

There are two sessions planned at different times of the day. Very young children (kindergarten to fourth grade students) will be able to participate between 1:30 and 2:15 pm. Fifth graders and above will be able to participate later in the day between 3:00 and 3:45 pm.

The storyline is as follows: “Your jealous Muggle cousins have stolen your tickets to the Hogwarts Express! Luckily, you’ve found their hiding spot. Unluckily, the tickets are locked up behind multiple locks. Follow the clues to recover your ticket before the train leaves at 11.”

This event is expected to be a sell out, which is great news considering anything that encourages kids to read should be positively received.

If you’re thinking about taking part, but are worried about the challenge it presents, just think that if Harry Potter can navigate his way through the Chamber of Secrets, you’ll be able to complete a public library escape room!
