Space-Themed Escape Room to Celebrate Apollo 11 Anniversary

Over 4800 libraries from all 50 states in the USA have been celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing and have registered for the ‘Summer of Space’. As well as the famed Apollo 11 mission, the initiative aims to educate youngsters on science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM).

‘A Universe of Stories’ is the slogan for the campaign and Lynette Fazio, programming administrator at Lafourche Paris Public Library (LPPL), announced a space-themed escape room as part of her library’s participation in ‘A Universe of Stories’.

Each of LPPL’s nine branches features a different escape room experience; however, all contain hidden objects, locks, puzzles and much more.

Fazio said, “It’s like they [kids] were at school, but they didn’t know they were at school.”

She continued, “The activities are easy to replicate and do a great job at incorporating different substances, like slime, to make STEM learning fun.”

The rooms were originally planned to run for only June, but the library decided to extend the duration into July due to the success and popularity of the concept.
